Marching Band DCI Trip to Winston-Salem July 31st
REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED
Due to water park safety concerns, Wake County Schools has determined that we cannot stop at Emerald Pointe this year before DCI. So, here is our new plan:
We will leave Enloe at 3:30PM on Sunday July 31st. We will go directly to Lot D at BB&T Field in Winston Salem and observe Corps warm-ups, then proceed into the stadium to eat and be in our seats at 7PM ready to be amazed by the top 8 Marching Corps in the US. We will leave DCI around 10:30PM and return to Enloe about 12:30AM.
We have GREAT seats at the top of section 3 for the performance!
Registration and payment must be complete by June 10th so we can reserve tickets. Space is limited and will be on a first come basis.
While optional, this trip is great fun and our first chance to come together to form the 2015-16 Emerald Eagle Marching Band. The cost covers entrance to DCI NightBeat, buses and drivers. As a result of the Emerald Point change, we will provide $20 in spending money to each student for meals and any DCI souveniers during the trip. A final schedule will be sent closer to date.
This is from an email Mr. Hunter sent last year if you want to know what DCI is all about:
For those of you who are new to the Marching Band, DCI stands for Drum Corps International. DCI is kind of like professional Marching Band, consisting mostly of college students who commit their summer to hard work and great music...outdoors. They are pretty much the epitome of outdoor music, marching & dancing.
Experiencing DCI live is amazing and kids are profoundly affected by it. That's why we want everyone who can join us on this trip.
